In 2015, a South African Mota-Engil footprint in the construction sector was created with the establishment of Mota-Engil Construction South Africa (MECSA). To further advance its massive contribution to the Southern African civil engineering and infrastructure development, as well as the aspirations of the Southern Africa region, Mota-Engil Group concluded a B-BBEE transaction with CN Holdings Company (Pty) Ltd which is supported by a technical agreement to ensure an adequate transfer of international civil engineering and infrastructure development skills to a truly African Group. The B-BBEE transaction has culminated in the creation of MECSA Construction (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of MEISA Holdings (Pty) Ltd, both entities being wholly owned and controlled by a 100% black diversified company named CN Holdings Company (Pty) Ltd.​

Since its establishment, MECSA Construction has been awarded flagship infrastructure projects over the last 5 years, to an accumulative value of over R4bn. The success of MECSA Construction (Pty) Ltd is an indication on the level of confidence South Africa has placed on MECSA Construction (Pty) Ltd technical expertise, safety and quality standards in construction and infrastructure management of projects.
